Binary to ASCII

Decode eight-bit binary groups into readable ASCII text.

ASCII uses codes 0–127 only. Binary-to-ASCII needs one eight-bit group per character; ASCII-to-text needs decimal codes separated by spaces.

How to use this tool

Enter one eight-digit binary group per character, separated by whitespace.

Important to know

Decode eight-bit binary groups into readable ASCII text.

Values above 127 and non-readable control codes are rejected; this is not a general binary-file decoder.

Formula and methodology

Interpret each eight-bit group as one base-2 integer and map its ASCII code to a character.

Example

01001000 01101001 becomes Hi.

Frequently asked questions

Can this decode UTF-8 emoji?

No. This tool accepts ASCII values only; use a UTF-8 byte decoder for non-ASCII text.
